Block printing is one of the most ancient types of printmaking! In this workshop we'll warm up by hand printing notebooks and then design and print our own tote bags! Slow down and build mindfulness as you design and print a uniquely patterned textile. An infinitely creative process made from the simplest of building blocks.

Be your very own Laverne Defazio* in this workshop by customizing a favorite piece of clothes with a little embroidery TLC.
Bring in a t-shirt, jean jacket, your very favorite do-rag or whatever the heck you want to embellish with colorful embroidery floss. We’ll go over basic embroidery techniques and stitches, brainstorm design ideas and then dive into your vision.
Skill Level: Easy
Supplies: Embroidery hoop, floss, needles and chalk will be provided (with a take home gift bag!)— you’re just in charge of bringing in the garment that you’d like to jazz up.
*Understanding the Laverne Defazio reference does not dictate your success or failure in the workshop
TUESDAYS, May 7, 14, 21, 28
Four classes for the price of three!
Each Wednesday, we’ll make space to slow down and work with our hands. We’ll explore a different medium each workshop, inspired by a well known artist (Charlie Harper, Wayne Thiebaud, Sabrina Ward Harrison, Wolf Kahn — heavy paints, paper cut outs, mixed media and more). Come for some self-care and community, as you learn.
I can always steady my life once more by returning to my soul. I ask it, "And what is it that you want, dear one?" The answer is always the same: "More wonder, please." -Elizabeth Gilbert, Big Magic

This class is all about exploration and play! At this age, children are eager to learn and to experiment. Together we’ll paint, draw, cut, glue, mix and even measure, talking about color, line, shape, and texture as we go. Can’t wait to make art together!
